Hellooo

Hello everyone,

First of all sorry for the email i managed to get sent to everyone about changing passwords and what not. I was just wondering if anyone still uses this thing or checks it. Also, I wanted to ask what everyone is doing nowadays, or if they have any new exciting things to share. Hope everyone is doing wellllllll!

Elineeeee!

I still check the blog all the time! I keep meaning to update but things have been hectic and it keeps slipping my mind. It's nice to know that some of us are still interested in the blog and stuff, maybe we should try for another mini project or something to get us back on track?!

Anywayyyy I'm back in the good old USA, start my final year of school next week which is half thrilling half terrifying. I'm trying to get an internship and have an interview on thursday, aaaaaand don't have anything really exciting to say, sadly.
How are things going with you?

Yuta have you finished school in Sweden?! Have a good time in Japan :)

Hellooo
I am glad people still check here. I can understand everyone is busy, the same goes for me. I'm in my final year now and three weeks into my internship which has been really nice so far. So looking forward to getting some projects done we're working on. Besides that I'm happy there's no more actual classes!!! It makes such a big difference without all the crazy homework, I actually get to sleep nowadays. Best of luck to everyone, especially your interview Julie.

Where is your internship, Eline?! I'm glad you like it :)

So in your final year is it like a self-directed project year? I start my final year today and it's almost exactly like the other years where we pick classes and stuff except in our final semester we have a class that's given the weight of 2 classes and it's where we do our final "senior project" that we show in a gallery at the end of the year at graduation. Scaryyyyy but exciting!

And thanks for the good luck, I got the internship, yayyyyy!

ohhh congratulations! where is your internship at?
im doing 3 months at www.barlock.nl and another 3 months at www.silodesign.nl I just work there 5 days a week now.
Our final year is basically half a year of internship (either at one place for 6 months, or at 2 places for each 3 months). And after that we have half a year to do a self-initiated project. Its made up of basically 5 assignments i think, 3 you come up with yourself (which can be one theme) 1 project is set by school and all who are graduating have to do it, and the last project is writing a thesis, and you basically have to present your thesis in a way which is appropriate to the topic you chose. sooo that could be a book, magazine, voice recording, website whatever you are doing. Does that sound similar to wha tyou guys do?

Wow, Eline! Both of those internships look SO COOL! Mine is at the Special Olympics of Minnesota, I haven't started yet but I'll be doing 15 hours a week for about 4 months. It's strange how differently the internship thing works in different places. When I finished with school in Brighton I went up to London and did a 3 week internship there where I worked 9-5:30 monday through friday. We don't really do that kind of thing over here at all. An interesting experience!

Your final year sounds really interesting (and it sounds like a god way to finish up the whole educational experience!) but yep, prettyyyyyy different from how mine is! For us we have two semesters, the first is just like any other semester at school, you take some required classes (internship, professional practice, etc. if you haven't already taken them), some ones that you just want to take, etc.
Then the 2nd semester we take a bunch of regular classes like normal but then we take a class called "Senior Project" which counts as twice the worth/credit amount of 2 classes so for that one class we are expected to do twice the work we would do in a normal class. Basically it is whatever you want, you just have to have a complete professional finished project at the end of your self-directed work. We still have a teacher who kind of guides you through it as far as I know, but it's not the typical class structure.

Wooooow ok sorry I just pretty much wrote a novel on here! Done now
