HAPPY NEW YEAR

Tuesday, December 25, 2007

It's kind of out of trend but...

I was wondering if everyone knows about the 1001 journals?

I found out about it a year ago at an internship and thought it was beautiful but never came back to it,
so now I started a journal and I sent it around it's kind of fun maybe this could be an idea for the collaboration?
But I guess it will just be the same thing as the journal

Beautiful Design

My In Rainbows DiscBox just came in the mail and OH MY GOD it is so amazingly designed that I just want to stare at it forever and never leave it.

They use justified type and..... somehow they make it look good! It blows my mind. Seriously, it is beautiful.

Decisions, Decisions

Hey Everyone

I hope the holidays are treating you well so far!

Anywayyyy, I need advice on a topic completely unrelated to design: TRAVEL.
So, you worldly travelers, you, I am planning on taking a trip out of the US this summer, and I have a few places in mind (Buenos Aires, Barcelona, and Berlin, perhaps Quebec City....). BUT, I want to know from people who have traveled where the best places to go are. Any suggestions? Any horrible places to avoid? Help me make a decision, here! ahahahahaha.

End of Semester is Making Me Crazy

I've been archiving all of my work from the semester, and it's really nice to see how much progress I've made (and how much progress I still have to make... ha ha haaa). I was looking at my type homework from the beginning of the class and eughhguhguh it's gross. But now I know how to make it better from everything I've learned. SO HURRAH!

Anyway, here's a website that I'm obsessed with, Fecal Face. It's got amazing interviews with illustrators, and the Free Fridayz section is awesome.

arthur de pins

Also check out the rest of his website...it's very, very cool.

Collaboration... great!

Previous year the guy Martin from two-points showed up at our school with a fine workshop. check out the website.

The chinese whisper project is a nice project because it is a really continuous thing.
So someone drops and image and someone else is responding to it etc.

Theodore Watson

Alrighhttttt so I've decided it's about time that I bother posting something on here.
So i figured I'll tell you a bit about Theodore Watson who was around today to talk about his work. I'm sure that those who are also from the WdKA were aware of this ;D. Anyways, Theodore Watson is known as a laser tagger, and basically what he does is make huge projections of graffiti art on buildings. He's been asked to do it in a lot of countries, and every single time he invites graffiti artists from around the place to join in the fun. These projection systems are basically made out of algorithms which follow the commands made by the laser which is used to draw on the building. This software is even going to be available to download so that other people can make adjustments to it or make use of it.  His talk was quite interesting, he showed a lot of videos of interactive media he has created, and how people reacted to this which was mostly positive. Anyways if you want to know more about him and some of his projects his website is: http://muonics.net/

okay bye :D

+++++++

Hey Guys!

I was reading through some of the emails I've gotten from all of you in the past, and the idea of collaboration kept coming up. I love the possibility of somehow working together on a project.

Is anyone still interested in the idea of any sort of collaboration? And if you are, have you got any ideas or plans of things you might like to do? Let us know, we can all brainstorm!

I completely understand that all of us are probably wayyyyyy busier than we should be, so whatever we do (if we do anything, that is!) can be pretty loose and optional of course and all that stuff. Open deadline, blah blah blah. But we can work that stuff out later.

Anyway, just thought I'd get a conversation going.
